Does Moving Increase Your Happiness

Even though the initial steps into preparing your move can be extremely stressful. Studies have been showing that over 70% of residents moving are finding the initial discomfort of moving as a short term effect. Followed by an increase in their overall happiness if they move for the right reasons. Some times we all just need a change in our life. This can range from downsizing your home and relieving the stress of taking care of a property that has outgrown your current families needs. To relocating and starting over at a new job to get a better work-life balance.

Moving from the harsh winters of Wisconsin to the beaches of California isn’t the key to happiness. Studies have found that an increase in happiness takes more than just a change of scenery. The most important factors to help you decide if its time to move is to understand the environmental factors that surround your move. Such as improvements in your living environment, the community your moving into and the work-life balance your new home provides.

To insure your move is going to increase your quality of life and overall happiness is to understand what your current home is missing. Are you commuting hours to work everyday. Do you live in a city where there is endless shops, restaurants and venues but you can’t find any peace and quiet. Suburbs have shown to be one of the most beneficial areas residents are relocating too. They provide the peace and quiet everyone is looking for to decrease their stress. With the benefits of still having a close proximity to the city and keeping a close knit community surrounding their home to make connections with.

The key to finding your happiness in your move is essentially that you do it for the right reasons. Moving will not increase your happiness if you don’t consider what you truly want to accomplish. Are you longing for a close knit community, a farm house in the country side or a condominium on the beach. The choice is yours sometimes we all need to get out of our comfort zones and experience new things. Living in your home can become stagnant after years. We can become stuck in a situation that shelters us from moving on to better things. The research indicates that the majority of new homeowners and sellers are happy with their decision. So take that leap of faith and choose the next journey you would like to go down.

Moving Preparation

A common question moving companies get asked is how to prepare for their move before moving day approaches. It is no secret that moving is stressful. British energy company E.ON conducted a survey of 2,000 people, and six out of ten people cited moving as the most stressful life event with divorce or a break up coming in second. With these moving day preparation tips we hope that this will help ease the transition into your new home.

One of the most important tips we can give any customer is to take your time and to prepare weeks in advance for your move. Nothing is more stressful than preparing your home days before your move. The key to moving is realizing what you truly need at your new home it is a perfect time to declutter your house. Go through your belongings and set a donation pile and a junk pile. This will save you a substantial amount of time in not only packing but the space you will use up in the moving truck. The more items you can donate in the long run only saves you money on moving day. Another key tip in packing your home is to always pack an essentials bag. When you get to your new home you will have stacks of boxes and having a bag that can get your through the first couple of days is important. Some examples would be toiletries, important documents, medications, chargers and a change of clothes. To easily sort through your boxes something as simple as color coding each box for the room it belongs in can ease the stress of trying to find something you want to unpack first.

Once you declutter your home its time to decide a budget you can afford. If you are going to do the move yourself or hire a moving company. Each option comes with expenses. If you move your own furniture you will need to set up a rental truck and recruit friends and family. If you friends and family are not able to help or their schedules don’t work with your closing date. Your best option is to hire a moving company. This option comes with setting a budget for your move and gathering quotes. We always recommend speaking to multiple moving companies and finding the one that fits in your budget and feels right to you. Most realtors have preferred mover listings. That reccomend experienced movers with a proven track record of providing quality moves for their prior clients. Don’t be afraid to ask for their recommendations on companies in the area. Also don’t be hesitant to make sure your mover is fully bonded and insured. You can always ask for a copy of their insurance to keep on file before your move. Wisconsin Experiences Boom in 2023

    Stack of 4 boxes

2023 has been a year that the U.S has seen a dramatic drop in moves only 7.8% of the population decided to move. Compared to 2023 the moving industry experienced close to a 10% decline. “The latest moving data suggests that over the last year, the U.S. has been a nation in stagnation. People are being priced out of relocation due to rising interest rates, inflation, and household debt,” said Miranda Marquit, consumer advocate and spokesperson at HireAHelper

Even though moving companies experienced a down turn Wisconsin ranked 8th in the country creating a 19.4% net growth rate of new residents. Indicating Wisconsin is attracting a lot of out of state moves into the area. This is heavily due to the low cost of living and low crime rates. For example Green Bay earned the number 1 spot as best places to live. They also ranked eighth on U.S. News’ list of the 25 Cheapest Places to Live, seventh in best places to live for quality of life, 18th in safest places to live, and 27th in best places to retire. As interest rates stay high and inflation stays steady at its high rates. Wisconsin could continue to see a substantal increase in new residents.
